The Ultimate Getaway to Ohio's Mohican Tree Houses

Treehouses at The Mohicans

When you were a kid, how many times did you make blueprints of building your very own tree house? A tree house with a rope ladder and bird’s eye view, am I right? For me, it was one too many times, so for fun; my brother and I built play forts out of bed sheets and dining room chairs.

But recently, Kevin and Laura Mooney, who own and manage The Tree Houses at the Mohicans (23164 Vess Road, Glenmont, OH 44628) extended me an experience that was better than any childhood tree house I could have imagined.

The Tree Houses at The Mohicans should be a bucket list item for every Ohioan. The beauty and serenity of the Old Pine Tree House was absolutely magical and I’m so happy I got to share this child-like experience with my Mom. Not only did we enjoy our stay at the tree houses, but we also went hiking at the Mohican State Park, climbed the last standing Fire Tower in Ohio, walked underneath Big Lyons Falls, and slipped a few times on the muddy trails.

Can you imagine waking up to this view? Now you don't have too. Make it a reality, by booking your reservation today! The Tree Houses at The Mohicans is halfway between Columbus and Cleveland which is perfect for a half- or full-day trip.

FUN FACT: The Mohicans partnered with Tree House Designer and Star of "Tree House Masters" Pete Nelson to build their first tree house, “The White Oak.” They also built a second tree house with Pete Nelson which was featured on the show in June 2013, named "Little Red.” Since then, they have continued to increase their tree house inventory. The one we stayed at was the Old Pine, which is based off the same tree house design technology as the Little Red tree house.

The Mohicans

The Old Pine Tree House is a custom designed tree house, beautifully located in the Mohican forest. You will never experience the magnificence of these tree houses unless you’re there walking up to it in person and seeing it with your own eyes.

You will instantly turn into a 12-year old kid again, wanting to quickly run up the stairs, jump on the bridge, and find all the nooks and crannies waiting to be found. I loved the smell of the old pine wood, the detail of the wood grain, and the overall architecture of the tree house, it was amazing.

My Mom and I did about five miles of hiking and then enjoyed a nice dinner and a movie when we got back to the tree house. It was so peaceful and relaxing and I will definitely be back.
